GUARD RAIL NEEDED OR BRAIN NEEDED

Well it was a gloomy, rainy, windy, muddy day at BTM Clays this last Sunday January 24. With 14 teams shooting their league scores Ole Ferdie here had his hands full observing the entire goings on. But watch I did!

ferdie report btm sporting claysScores were pretty good considering the inclement weather, but that was over shadowed by the near tragedy in the parking area. After his shoot in the Drake Division, and having a pretty mediocre round of 22 of 50 for his team County Line Vet, Mike Biss called it a day and headed for his pretty red Ford pickem up truck. Just when you think your day cannot get any worse, the sporting clays Gods strike again.

Mike hopped in his pick up and turned sharply to exit the extremely wide and graveled parking area. With his attention on his below average round, Mike neglected to see the precipitous drop off he was approaching. Before he had time to react he was teetering on a near roll over as two wheels slipped over the abyss. Concerned that trying to get his vehicle rocking back and forth to extricate himself would complete the roll over he turned the steering wheel downhill and drove to the bottom.

Now remember, it’s January, rained ALL day. Four wheel drive was not about to save this situation. So now at the bottom of the hill, tucked into the pine trees, sits a pretty red pick up truck STUCK At this point, help was needed. Mike called a friend that came out and winched the vehicle to safety.

Owner Skeeter Richards told this old reporter that Mike Biss called him to apologize for the incident. Skeeter asked Mike “What happened?’  Mike replied “ Stupid, just stupid, didn’t know what the hell I was thinking, Just stupid!”

Well if it’s happening at BTM Clays……you can be sure Ole Ferdie is watching.
